Your Questions Answered
What exactly is Maths Boot Camp and how can it help me?
How does Maths Boot Camp work?
I really found Science Boot Camp useful, and loved that it was free. Why is Maths Boot Camp not free?
There are many costs that we have incurred and paid for from our own pockets for both resources, including the extra bandwith we buy each year to accommodate the increased number of visitors to our site in the run up to SATs; costs of freelancers that we hire both for technical and educational reasons; and the many hours it takes to create each Boot Camp, plus to maintain them. Science Boot Camp runs at a loss for us, and unfortunately we cannot do the same again this year for Maths Boot Camp. Please note: Science Boot Camp will remain a free resource.

The links take me to activities on other websites that I can access for free. What am I paying for?
All links lead to high quality activities/learning zones on reputable sites such as the BBC, that can indeed be accessed for free - Compare4Kids does not take creative credit for any of these resources. There are also free websites that offer collections of links to useful resources. However, we believe that there is nothing quite like Maths Boot Camp. Maths Boot Camp is geared towards year 6 students about to take their Maths SATS, and it is set out in an easy to follow way, with the benefit of relevant past SATs questions for each day's topic being provided. Our concept is unique, and it has been created to make your life a little easier in a time when things can be a bit chaotic! We suggest that you try the first six days before subscribing as they are free to use.

How much does Maths Boot Camp cost?
It costs £9.50 to access Maths Boot Camp for one year. Your subscription will not automatically be renewed - instead, we will email you to notify you when your subscription has expired. And if this is not for you, the first six days are free and you can visit them and use them as much as you like.

Will my email address be used as my username?
Yes, the email address you register with will be used as your username. It is therefore a good idea to consider which email address you use when signing up. You may wish to set up a new Yahoo or Hotmail account so that you have a separate email address for these purposes. Choosing something such as your school name would make it easy to remember, for example myprimaryschoolnameyear6@yahoo.co.uk. If, once you have signed up, you wish to change your username to another email address, you are more than welcome to do so. This cannot be done from within your administration area, so please email us at sats@compare4kids.co.uk with the email address you registered with, and the email address you wish to use, and we will get that changed for you within 24 hours at the very longest.

I have just signed up and haven't yet received my login details - why not?
You should automatically be sent your login details. If you have not received them within 10 minutes, it is likely that they have gone into your "spam" or "junk" folder, particularly if you are using Hotmail. We recommend that you add our email address (sats@compare4kids.co.uk) to your contacts so that future emails are delivered straight into your inbox. Please contact us at sats@compare4kids.co.uk if you would like us to resend your login details.

Is Maths Boot Camp a replacement for revision?
Absolutely not. Maths Boot Camp is a resource to aid your revision, and is by no means a substitute for revision. We recommend that you work through the activities alongside the revision that you are doing with your teacher, or at home.

Can I work through it quicker than in five weeks?
Yes, you can. Feedback has told us that many children like to work through our Boot Camps doing one topic each day, whilst others like to work through more than one topic a day. The key is not to rush - remember that it isn't a race, and you need to make sure that you get the most out of each activity.

I've noticed that some of the past SATs questions are given for more than one topic - why is this?
Whist most past SATs questions fall into obvious categories, some questions cover more than one topic - for example, a question could involve multiplication and addition. Where this is the case, we reference the question with the topic that we think is most appropriate to the question. However, in some cases questions really do cover more than one topic, which is why you might see it repeated on more than one day. It just means more practice, which is never a bad thing!

Will Maths Boot Camp be free in the future?
It is possible that Maths Boot Camp might become a free resource at some point in the future.

How long does my subscription last for?
Your subscription will last for one year, after which you will be able to renew it (we will email you to let you know that it has expired).

I am a teacher - can all of my pupils access Maths Boot Camp at the same time from different computers in our IT suite?
Yes, once you have subscribed to the members area of Maths Boot Camp, you will be supplied with a password. This password can be used by any pupils accessing Maths Boot Camp from your school IP address (this is the address of your school server, but you don't need to worry about this - we take care of all the technical bits to make sure your whole class can access Maths Boot Camp!).

I am a Year 6 pupil. My school class hasn't signed up for this, but can I subscribe and use it from home?
Of course. We receive many emails from children (and from parents too!) who love the fact that they can work through our Boot Camps in their own time.

I am a Key stage 2 teacher/student, but am not in Year 6 - can I still use Maths Boot Camp?
Of course. Whilst it has been created with Year 6 in focus, many of the activities that we link to are also suitable for Year 5, and possibly Year 4 too. However, as this is primarily a Year 6 resource, some of the links may cover topics that are not learnt in Years 4 or 5.

Will I be able to use my class login over the Easter holidays, when I am at home?
Yes, of course. It is a great idea to do some revision over the Easter holidays. Ask your teacher for your class login details if you do not know them, and then you can use them at home whenever you like.

The resources take a while to open up - how can I make them open quicker?
It is likely that you are using Internet Explorer to access Maths Boot Camp. Internet Explorer tends to open up new windows quite slowly. If you use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer, the links in Maths Boot Camp will open a lot quicker. You can download Firefox quickly and easily from here, if it is not already installed on your computer: Firefox.

I don't have a PayPal account and don't want one. Can I pay any other way?
Yes, you can pay via your credit card instead of logging in to, or setting up, a PayPal account. Look for wording such as: "Don't have a PayPal account? Use your credit card or bank account (where available)." There should be a link to take you to the facility to pay via credit card.

Is the fee refundable if I am not happy with the product?
Maths Boot Camp is a non-tangible irrevocable product so the refund policy is conditional, which you are responsible for understanding upon purchasing your subscription. We only make exceptions with this rule when the product appears to be not-as-described on a case by case basis in agreement of the parties concerned. The deadline for any refund claim is one week after subscription.

(What this basically means is Maths Boot Camp is an experience and as such cannot be refunded if you are not entirely happy with the content. Please be sure to check out the first six days before subscribing as these are free.)

Our company reserves the right to change or modify these terms with no prior notice.
